HUSH Wedding Soirée 2015 | Terminal City Club

Are you ready for Vancouver's best kept wedding secret? Terminal City Club will host the 2015 HUSH Wedding Soirée on Saturday, March 7th – doors open at 7:00 PM. Two floors of TCC will come to life with extravagant décor, roaming models in beautiful wedding gowns, bubbles and bites, a special men's lounge (grooms like to plan for their weddings too!), and endless inspiration to help you celebrate your special day in style! You can order tickets ($30) via EventBrite, or enter to win 2 tickets from us (see info below).

We designed and printed the special HUSH 2015 invitations for Vancouver wedding planners above. This is a three-color invitation in blush, gold, and black ink. It was so much fun to design (I just love incorporating architectural details from a venue into an invitation – and Terminal City Club has the most beautiful stained glass dome (installed circa 1912), that we used as the main inspiration for these invitations.

Sunlit Letterpress will have a table at the show with information sheets and samples of our work for all you brides and grooms getting married this year (or next!). I won't actually be there in person because I will be travelling, but we encourage you to contact us with any questions you have about our products and services – we're happy to help! Many of our talented and highly experienced Vancouver wedding industry friends will be at the show, so don't miss out!

Are you interested in attending HUSH 2015? I have two tickets to give away, so be sure to enter the random draw by answering the following question as a comment below – Which wedding shows will or have you attended this year? Draw closes Saturday, February 28th at 12 PM. Winner will be announced in the comments below!

The next few weeks will be nuts as our family and the studio are on the move to our new home and studio space. We just closed escrow and I am excited (and a little anxious) for this move; but seriously, moving is truly the pits. I counted last night how many times I have moved in my life, and I arrived at 13 moves. Is that a lot? It seems like a lot. And we all know how much I love moving, especially when you have a studio with 1,200 lb. printing presses, 400+ lb. paper cutters, tons of paper and supplies, and lots of greasy and inky items to carry move. Thank God for my commercial movers!

Be sure to check back for the update on the HUSH 2015 tickets winners :)

THANK YOU FOR ENTERING DINA, YOU ARE THE WINNER! PLEASE SEE COMMENTS BELOW TO RECEIVE YOUR TICKETS!

Letterpress Candy Favor Bags, Candy Buffets + More

Have you ever been to a wedding with a candy buffet? (Like the one in the photo above from Sweet Bliss Weddings). I haven't been to one at a wedding (which is sad considering my ridiculously out-of-control sweet tooth), but I have been to one at a wedding industry event - and I loved it!

The candy buffet/candy bar makes a great addition to any wedding, it's a fun conversation piece, guests get to feel like little kids again, it provides guests with that extra shot of sugar to keep them up late, and best of all - the candy can be taken home in little bags as favors that you know guests will use (maybe as soon as on the drive home from the reception).

For those planning a candy buffet, I've put together a little letterpress kraft bag to fill with treats that reads "love is sweet - enjoy a treat". You can buy these in our Etsy shop, but if you'd like to place a custom order for bags with your wedding color(s), or customized with your names or a wedding monogram or other graphic motif, we can do that too! Please contact the studio for more info: www.sunlit-letterpress.com

We also recently printed some 4-Bar (3.5" x 5") letterpress thank you cards printed with a yellow lace pattern and a peachy-pink "thank you" at the bottom. These letterpress note cards can also be purchased in our Etsy shop.

If you are a follower of this letterpress blog, be sure to keep checking back over the next couple of weeks - we are planning a bit of an overhaul and redesign to improve things around here. It's been a long time since we've done anything with with the actual structure and look of the blog, and it's time to get'er done!

Custom Orchid Letterpress Invitations

Despite some recent health issues, I am finally getting back to work slowly in fits and spurts. On Sunday I completed our first press run in over 5 months. It was a bit challenging since I am still not 100% and the studio has moved to a new location since I last printed anything, so it was frustrating trying to find studio supplies that weren't where I expected them to be. My press was also a bit squeaky since some of the oil had worked its way out of oil holes during the move, so I had to hunt down each squeak and re-oil and lubricate joints. Nevertheless the 250 piece print job was completed and I enjoyed getting back into the rhythm of printing and moving to the beat of my 1,200 lb press.

My recent downtime has allowed me to get the camera out and take a few photos of jobs past - including the above photos of letterpress invitations we designed and printed last year for a couple in Toronto. We worked closely with their wedding planner (who is based here in Vancouver) for most of the design phase and printing of the letterpress stationery, and then we worked with the planner and the couple again to design their "day-of" wedding stationery that was to be printed digitally (including menus, programs, favor tags, and place cards). The ink used was a dark eggplant purple on Pearl White Crane Lettra stock.

If you are interested in having us design and print your custom letterpress wedding invitations and wedding stationery, please be in touch. We look forward to working with you!
