Sunlit Letterpress @thisopenspace for Etsy's First #UnwrapEtsy Holiday Pop-Up Shop in Vancouver | November 13-19
Looking to get a head start on your holiday shopping? Our letterpress cards, art prints, gift tags, and other stationery gifts and holiday ephemera will be available at Etsy's first #UnwrapEtsy Holiday Pop-Up Shop here in Vancouver at This Open Space (434 Columbia Street, Chinatown). With the best handmade wares from 34 local Vancouver designers and artists, you'll be sure to find something for everyone on your holiday gift list!
We are so excited to be participating in Etsy's first (temporary) store here in Vancouver! Our friends at Etsy are so organized and friendly that I know this will be another great event! When I dropped off our merchandise this morning I just wanted to start shopping for myself – so many beautiful gifts available, from home décor to jewelry, and paper goods to edibles and leather goods...Oh, and there are workshops going on as well (i.e. leather work, ornament design, etc.).
Our stationery inventory is limited at the shop so get there early if you can! Thank you Etsy Canada for including us in this awesome holiday shopping event!

Vancouver Wedding Show - Indie I Do 2010
Just a quick update to remind you that we will be participating in the second annual Indie I Do show here in Vancouver on January 23, 2010 (11am-5pm), at Heritage Hall. Ticket presales have already started, and are half-price ($10) if you buy before November 1, 2009 (tickets are $20 each after November 1st and at the door). And remember, there are only 70 gift bags to be had by early ticket purchasers, so don't wait!
I think one of the big reasons this show was so popular last year is that it is not overwhelming like some of the bigger shows and fairs that have thousands of people milling about – making it hard for brides and grooms to have a conversation with vendors about their specific needs. Indie I Do is more intimate and concentrates select vendors in a smaller area, making for (in my opinion) a more effective wedding show.
Please mark your calendars and be sure to come down and talk to us about your wedding stationery needs. We will have lots of samples to touch and design ideas for you to take a look at.
As a side note, we are currently booking into January 2010 for custom letterpress wedding orders - so if you are a bride considering Sunlit Letterpress stationery for your 2010 wedding, please contact us as soon as possible to be added to our printing schedule and avoid disappointment.
Happy letterpressing!

Artist Prints

Above is a photo of a limited edition series of prints that we recently printed for Vancouver artist Scott Malin for his upcoming show "Sketchbooks and New Drawings" at RedIron Studio & Gallery here in Vancouver from June 5-14, 2009 (opening reception June 5th at 6PM). This was a limited edition of 33 prints on Crane Lettra Pearl stock with a blood red ink.
We wish Scott the best of luck with his opening!

Black + White
© 2008 Sunlit Letterpress
Above are some photos of a recent invitation order that we printed for local Vancouver graphic designer Flora Gordon. I met Flora at the Got Craft? market in Kitsilano in July of last year. We had met up for coffee earlier this year to talk about using letterpress in her work – and it was great to finally work with her on a project. It's also really fun to work with another designer because I get a chance to talk shop with someone local.
This invitation was lovely to print because it was all text and beautiful in simple black and white. Sometimes the unique qualities of letterpress printing are best captured by text-only designs. We used Crane Lettra paper and envelopes in Pearl.
Sometimes when I'm designing or printing letterpress wedding invitations, I wish I was getting married all over again. Wedding design is so much fun!
If you are interested in letterpress wedding invitations, please contact us for more information.
Happy letterpressing!

Snow Day...

Vancouver got a nice dump of snow last night - and since I was not in the mood for trudging through the white stuff to get to the gym - I got a head start on some custom business card printing. This card features a blind deboss (hit without ink), as well as some grey text. The above photo is of just the blind deboss - I still have to do the grey. That's only 150 of the 1,000 to complete...
Below is a photo of the letterpress intern - hard at work, as usual. Oh, to be a dog!

Happy letterpressing!
