Fab filmstrip on letterpress printing...

Alan Lastufka of Fall of Autumn recently e-mailed me to tell me about the short video he's produced on letterpress printing (part of a series on printing techniques in use today). I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the video and it is a perfect resource for beginners that want to see a quick and general overview of letterpress printing (in this case with a tabletop press).

Philip Cheaney at the Independent Publishing Resource Center in Portland, Oregon, is the star of the video - and he gives quick intros to the many foreign terms that you learn when embarking on a career in the letterpress industry: job case, leading, quads, coppers and brasses, gauge pins, chases, furniture, and quoins.

You can watch the video on YouTube.

Great video Alan - now you just need to do another one showing the tedious process of cleaning up :) On the other hand, who really wants to watch the nitty gritty bits?

Happy letterpressing!
