How Denise Styled Her "Love Is" Corinthians Letterpress Art Print

We just love seeing how you display and style our letterpress art prints in your homes and offices – it is so nice to see where the prints end up (like little children going off into the world), and your décor and gallery walls are just so lovely!

The photos above come to us from Denise who ordered our "Love Is" Corinthians letterpress art print, and she placed it in a beautiful floating glass frame from Chapters/Indigo.  Although she created a gorgeous vignette, Denise is planning to give her print to her cousin who recently got engaged :) What a great gift idea! Congratulations to your cousin, Denise!

We would love to see how you've styled our prints in your home or office, and we'd love to feature your photos here to share with our readers. Please keep the photos coming by email or by tagging us on Instagram with @sunlitletterpress or #sunlitletterpress!

Etsy Made in Canada Vancouver Market | Tomorrow 10 AM – 5 PM, Robson Square

So what do you have planned for tomorrow? If you are a letterpress lover and want to shop for some new cards, notes, and art prints, I hope you'll come visit our booth tomorrow (September 27th) at the Etsy Made in Canada Vancouver Market at Robson Square. You can check out the lookbook for all the vendors here. If you mention our Adventures in Letterpress blog, we'll be throwing in a little extra treat with your purchase (while supplies last! so come early!). If you are early enough to the show, there are a number of swag bags available with free gifts, samples and coupons, so set those alarm clocks people!

This will be the first show we've attended since 2010 – isn't that crazy? I can't believe it's been 4 years since I set up a booth for a show (our last was a wedding show). Since then we've moved the studio a few times as well, so not only do I have trouble remembering all the items I need to bring with me, but everything is scattered in boxes throughout our storage! I know, I know, I should be better organized, but I'm not when it comes to show prep. Add in two little ones and the first week of school for one of them (because of the teachers' strike), and the start of various fall activities (ballet, gymnastics, swimming, etc.) and this has been the craziest week I've had in a while! This is probably the first time I've sat down for longer than a minute in about 7 days. Phew!

Above I posted a couple of photos of a new art print ("She Is") that we will have available at the Etsy show (and is now also available for purchase on Etsy). This passage from Proverbs is a special one for me and I have one framed for each of my daughters' rooms. Do you have any special quotes up in your home?

If you make it to Etsy Made in Canada tomorrow, be sure to pop in and say hello! We look forward to meeting you!

Something Blue

Hello letterpress lovers! I hope this post finds you enjoying the summer months – can you believe it's almost August? We've had good weather here in Vancouver for the most part, with the exception of a couple of rainy and colder days last week – but overall we can't complain!

Above are a few photos of a new design we created specifically for weddings. We had a very popular "Something Blue" card in our greeting card line for some time now; but it is a more symmetrical and square design. I wanted to do something new with "Something Blue" that was more organic and light. So, here it is - as a letterpress greeting card (for all those wedding gifts or maybe to congratulate someone's engagement), and as an art print at 5" x 7" and in a larger size at 8.5" x 11". The larger size letterpress print has a decent amount of room around the edges, so the print could easily be placed on a table for wedding guests to sign in the white space, and then framed after the wedding as a keepsake (i.e. instead of or in addition to a traditional guest book).

Since July is our quietest month of the year, I have been spending some time putting together some new card designs and art prints, and thinking up some new product ideas for the fall and holiday season. I am trying to follow my intuition more and design pieces that I love, rather than necessarily just try to design things that will sell. This year I've really felt torn about where I am going with my business, and where I see things in 5 years, and I'm trying to get back to my own style and develop it further.

I've also come to the decision that we need to officially offer digital printing options for our clients. When I started this business, letterpress was experiencing a true revival and I was, and continue to be, happy to participate in and promote this period of renewal of traditional printing. Letterpress is in my veins (my great-grandfather was also a printer) and it will always be my first love; however, I realize that by not offering a mainstream printing option as well, I am losing potential clients and missing out on the opportunity to create pieces that cannot be accommodated by letterpress printing. In some ways I feel like a traitor to my craft (holy guilt complex!), but I am excited and enthusiastic about offering new options for our clients.

We are in the middle of redesigning our website and blog, and creating a new online shop to serve you better. You will be able to order both our letterpress goods and digitally-printed stationery and invitations in our new online shop soon. I look forward to sharing it with you!

Letterpress Giveaway (Closed) | "Love Is" Art Print

Hello Letterpress Lovers!

Has Spring sprung where you live? I was away for a few weeks on vacation and returned home to a much greener Spring than when I left (and luckily managed to skip the worst of my allergy season while away – thank goodness!).

This Spring we are putting together a few letterpress art prints; something new for Sunlit Letterpress. Up until now we've focused primarily on custom stationery and letterpress wedding invitations, and some ready-to-wear stationery products. I'm not sure why I've never ventured into art prints until now, maybe a lack of time to sit and put something together?

I wanted our first art print offering to incorporate a passage that was important to me. This is a very well-known Bible passage; probably because it is so often used as a reading in Christian weddings. But if you really study the reading you see how it truly is a road map for unconditional love – no matter your faith. Our patience is often tested by our significant others, our children, our family members – and yet we must learn to stay the course and be kind. True love does not insist on having things go our way all the time – sometimes we have to embrace compromise and sacrifice our wants and needs for others. True love endures the most difficult challenges of everyday life and the struggles of difficult times of sickness and loss. True love has no limits and never fails.

This piece was printed on our Chandler & Price press using black and a light pink ink on Crane Lettra 110 lb. 100% (tree-free) cotton cover and measures 5" x 7".

We are giving away one of these prints to a lucky reader! To enter, simply leave a comment below and tell us where you would place this print in your home. Entries must be posted by May 5, 2014, at 7 PM (Pacific) and one winner will be chosen at random. Open to entries worldwide. Winner will be announced as an update to this post after the draw. Sorry, personal friends and family of Sunlit Letterpress are not eligible.

This print is also available in out Etsy shop for purchase – makes a great wedding gift, or addition to your gallery wall! If you are a wedding industry vendor, this print would make a great thank you gift for your clients.

Enjoy!
