  1. The trucks you originally received with your press are Morgan Expansion trucks. They were originally designed to allow the diameter of the trucks to be increased or decreased to compensate for the expansion and contraction common to composition rollers during different times of the year. The adjustment is accomplished by tightening the large nut to squeeze the rubber tire or loosening the nut to allow the tire to relax back to its small dimension. Your tires look old and almost certainly have either flat spots, are out of round, are hardened, or all three. NA Graphics sells replacement tires.

It sure looks like they sent you delrin trucks for the wrong size press. If they were just a different diameter than the rollers I might suspect the rollers were the wrong size but since they won't even fit they must be for a larger press, perhaps a 10x15.

An older (I think 1915) Chandler and Price catalog gives the standard size trucks provided with a 8x12 NS press as 1 7/16" in diameter and recommends rollers be "cast" at 1 1/2 inches. They also indicate that trucks 1/16" and 1/8" over or under-sized are available by request.

  3. I was going to say what Rich already said - those trucks are too big for your press. You'll need a smaller size. We have some on our C&P and have no problem at all with them.

    Good luck!
